About AWARD Training

Overview

AWARD envisions an African Agricultural Research and Development (ARD) landscape with organizations, policies, technologies, and programs that attend to the needs of both women and men. This means, making women’s and men’s concerns and experiences integral to the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of all ARD work so that all are represented equitably and benefit equally. The holistic nature, individually tailored approach, intensity, and diversity of AWARD’s training offerings have led to a high degree of impact across all evaluation criteria, as well as research outcomes. However, the ability of the host organization to recognize, accommodate, and create continual growth opportunities is one of the most difficult challenges trainees are likely to face.

About Our Trainers

The AWARD Training Team (A-TEAM) is a network of over 35 experienced trainers and subject matter experts across Africa who deliver AWARD's leadership, mentoring, gender, and scientific training programs. • The inspiration for our logo comes from an African proverb

The wisdom that "sticks in a bundle are stronger together" seems a perfect metaphor for AWARD. It is with the support of a passionate community of collaborators-fellows, mentors, trainers, staff, the Steering Committee, donors, partner institutions, and many other supporters-that each woman scientist can rise up to reach her full potential. The game-changing nature of our program is reflected in the vibrant colour palette, imagery, and visual style that we’ve chosen to express our brand identity.
